Make the source definition as clear as the chart
- Connecting Power BI to Dataverse is rarely the hard part.
- Agree field definitions before designing the dashboard.
- Otherwise two dashboards on one system will disagree.

Different field definitions can produce different answers. Trace the reporting question back to the source before designing the view.
Where the numbers really come from
For Dataverse-based operational systems, the Web API exposes data and metadata through OData. Power BI can connect to services including Microsoft Dynamics. The connection itself is rarely the hard part.
What the implementation still needs
Agreed field definitions, permissions, refresh behavior and a reporting model built around the actual question. Without those, two dashboards built on the same system can disagree, and nobody can say which one is right.
